Short and to the point

it’s day +35.  Been a long time since I wrote anything (22 days to be axact).  Wow, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Early in this miss I got viral pneumonia.  That put me in the ICU for a few days.  The good news is that the whole ordeal only last 2 weekish.  Then not only was I free from ICU, I got freed from regular treatment too the next day or so.

So, I started private doctor lessons blah blah.  Not lessons to become a doctor, rather lessons on how to live with being a transplant patient.  Although I would love to be a doctor, school is NOT happening for me.

Well, after I started getting into the groove here at Hogwars, I mean Mayo,  I got depressed.  Got it from Chemo Depression.  Lost my appetitive, stopped drinking, basically stopped consuming anything I needed to survive.

Only to be saved by Prednisone.  Pred turns me into a nicer guy, and makes me hungry.  So food consumption has resumed, And I am in a better mood.

Drinking has become better, its hard for me for some reason.

After my mood cheered, the Holton catheter broke.  That’s the catheter which brings blood and other fluids to and from your heart.  They “Fixed” it, it broke again,  They “Fixed it” Again and it broke again.  Then have declared it officially dead.  This leaves me with 2 options, blood draws from the arm or surgery again.  I am actually considering the surgery again, go figure.

Either choice has plusses and either had minuses.  I have a few days to decide I guess.

So overall, this hasn’t been too much fun.

I am 50 year old guy, who beat blood cancer but is getting his butt kicked by bone marrow cancer. At this point it appears I am dying. Married and in love with the most wonderful woman in the world (27 years). She has stood by me thru a lot of crap and I love her so.

  1. Wow! I always thought “Black Magic Woman” was a Carlos Santana original. I can hardly believe it was done first by Fleetwood Mac! Wonders never cease….

I hope your surgery goes well this morning, and that the catheter stays put after this! ((((((hugs)))))))
