Trying to get somewhat of a life

I did it.  I did it.  I went out of the house, drove to Mayhem Comics and played Dungeons and Dragons with complete strangers.  Now, you might think “Big Deal”, well it is a big deal for a couple reasons.  1.  I drove in a major rainstorm, it was raining real hard.  2.  I drove the freeway, I hate driving the freeway. And 3.  I played with Strangers.  And most importantly, I had a good time.  It wasn’t too good of an adventure and we had to have it done in 2 hours, but the point is, I went out and did it.  Me, by myself.  Yeah, it felt good once things got going.  Dungeons and Dragons, the way it is meant to be played.

Also yesterday I got ahold of all of my players from the original Aravas and all of them expressed interest in playing again, but only 3 had the time they could commit.  So, I am on the quest to find 2 or 3 more players to fill out the party.  I found 1 already, one of the easiest recruit jobs I have ever done.  So, now I only need 1 or 2 more.  We are going to play on Tuesday nights, a complete reboot of Aravas.  Theater-of-the-mind for the win.  I don’t hate roll20, I just don’t like roll20 and don’t need roll20, so I will just not use roll20 and we all will get along just fine. Totm is a valid platform for gaming.

Oh yeah, after I get back from my vacation in August, I will probably be DMing at Mayhem Comics on Wednesday nights.  They give 10 dollars of store credit per session.  So $40 of gaming credit a month, that’s a book or 4 sets of dice.  Yeah, buddy, for sure I am going to do that.  Start a campaign in the Hole.  Keep people entertained for months, make some store credit for having fun.   Since it can only be done in 2 hour blocks, it’s definitely a campaign in the making, even if it’s a short campaign.  That will mean regularly going out, driving the freeway, and playing with strangers.  Getting somewhat of a life, for the win.

Allergist appoint is made.  I called to get a referral to an orthopedic place, but no one at Mercy One Adel called me back.  So, I don’t know if that got taken care of yesterday or not.  All I know is that Chris took a look at it a couple months ago and couldn’t find anything wrong with it per se and now it’s getting worse.  I really do need to see an orthopedic doc to maybe get shots in my knee or something.  Something beyond the reach of a PA in a little town.

OH, for the record, I am NOT looking for an online Dungeons and Dragons game anymore.  I think running 1 online and 1 in 3D is enough Dungeons and Dragons for one person.  If something comes up, I won’t say No, but I am not going to search out a game.  I don’t want to burn out real quick, simple as that.  Teresa pointed it out and I knew it, I have a habit of overextending myself and then quitting it all, yup, all of the games; the ones I am running and the ones I am playing in.  I end up leaving a lot of people hanging, at least I have a few good friends who understand and will stand by me.  But it sucks for everyone involved.  About the time they get to liking their character, I pull the rug out from under them.  Not good.  So, I am trying to avoid that.  1 and 1 is all I plan on doing.

OH Yeah,  Happy Pucky’s Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Happy Thursday to my Canadian readers.

I woke at 4:30am today, went back to bed at 7, slept till 9ish.  Still missing some sleep.  Me thinks a nap is in order.  After I am though with this, I will go back to sleep for a bit.  I’ve been up for long enough to be sleepy for a nap.
