The long drive to a place I needed to be

Made it to the Region in decent time.  Didn’t really hit traffic until we got south of Chicago and then all the way into the exit to Portage.  We stopped a couple times for no real reason except to let me stretch my aching back.  Teresa gets applause for making it here in really good time even though I had her stop at Steak n Shake and actually eat in at lunch time.  It’s really not that bad of a drive.  Could really be somewhat shorter, I wouldn’t mind.  But spending time with Teresa is great.  And the destination is well worth the trip.

Speaking of being here.  My mom and brother both seem to be doing well.  We got here a little after 5:30 and Jim got up at 7:20 so Teresa and I had a nice time chatting with mom and Charlie (my god-sister).  When we woke Jim up we eventually made our way out to dinner at El Pueblo.  Everyone said dinner was good, but about half way through I started to feel rotten.  I couldn’t put a definition on how I felt bad, just didn’t feel good.  So, not to ruin dinner for everyone, I kept it mostly to myself.  But as soon as everyone was done, we found someone to find our waitress to finally get our bill.  We then went home, where Jim went to work and now we are watching Wynnona Wyatt.

So happy to not have my tooth pulled today.  I really would have been super miserable for my party.  The party that I am really looking forward to.  Yes, tomorrow is my AIN’T DEAD YET Party.  It should be a great time for everyone who comes.  I may have overestimated the number of people coming, but everyone should have plenty to eat, and if they don’t have a good time, it ain’t my fault 🙂

My knee and back both didn’t appreciate the long ride.  At least Teresa did the driving because I would probably still be driving here, stopping at every rest stop, and probably every other exit just so I could stretch a little.  My right knee is trash and my back is not much better.  Mayo is gonna be so wonderful on Monday, but at least I have tomorrow to relax and have a good time.

We didn’t bring our dogs and now I am regretting that decision.  My mom doesn’t remember asking me to not bring the dogs, but she did.  But at least we cut one long drive out of the equation.  But now that it is late, I miss my doggies.  I hope that Jay (our neighbor) remembers to feed them and hopefully they won’t just bark and bark and bark at him.

It’s getting late, need to take my meds and go crash.
