Well, my 7pmish estimate was way off, didn’t get home till 9pm. I swear they gave me more than 4 hours of fluids. It also took over an hour for the IV nurse to show up. So, we got there at 10am and got done sometime around 4:30pm.
The DLI itself was not remarkable in any way. Or maybe its remarkable in its remarkableness. Anyhow, again the DLI took all of 5 minutes. And right now my breath smells like cream corn again. Luckily Teresa doesn’t mind the smell of cream corn.
OK, the cream corn smell comes from the preservatives they use to keep the donations good. I smelled a fresh one today, and wow quite the smell. The good news it supposedly only last for 12-24 hours cuz the patient (me) breathes it out.
It was a long 2 days.
I am exhausted now though (not nearly as bad as I’ll be in 6 weeks). Exhausted is the right word. Tired beyond being sleepy. I tried and failed to sleep in the car. Only been able to do that twice in my adult life. But hey, I figured I would write something up right now for my few loyal readers to let them know we made it home ok.
In 6 weeks, (My next Mayo appointment), we have to be there by 8am. At 9am I am having a bone marrow biopsy. Then a regular day at Mayo. Then at 3pm I am finally having tooth#15 taken out. I figure have it done there and if there is a problem there are tons of doctors to fix me. But that is going to be a 16ish hour day that starts off with them drilling my hip and finishes off with a tooth being pulled before a long drive home.
Well, that is yesterday, today, tomorrow, and a day 6 weeks away all rolled up for ya. I’m heading to bed.
