I still don’t have a new license

It is Sunday, July, 12, 2020. The weather today is supposed to be the same as yesterday but without the rain. Which is a cool 86 degree high with lowish humidity. Definitely not like July in central Iowa. As a matter of prediction by KCCI weather, we won’t be back into the 90s until Friday. And that is fine by me. I have to be somewhere on Thursday.

Yay, I slept thru the night. Would have slept longer but Alexa goes off at 7am to tell me to take my Levothyroxine and I get up to feed and then take out the dogs. Sometimes (like today) it’s hard to go back to sleep, so I thought I’d write this blog entry and then try to go back to sleep.

Last night we went to HyVee for fruit and to get me a new driver’s license. We got the fruit and the Kiosk was broke to get my license. So, we decided to drive to the other one in Waukee. Which wasn’t close at all. Anyhow, they were closed, so I still don’t have a new license. However on the way home, we discovered Teresa’s car had a flat tire, and we didn’t know we had a jack (It was under the spare). Teresa calls our roadside service number from our insurance and gets to talk to “Larry”, his accent was so thick it was almost assaulting. Wherever he was from he tried to spell Campbell “KMBLE.” She had to spell Campbell to him at least 5 times and read the entire vin number to him twice, to further confuse things we were on an offramp from the 80, so literally the cross-street was the 80 or R Ave. The guy couldn’t grasp that a road would be named R Ave. Then he asked for the closest city, which was Van Meter. So anyhow, thankfully, he got a local tow truck driver to come help us out. He asked where we were cuz “Larry” told him we were in Van Meter. DOH. Luckily the tow truck guy spoke English and called before her came and Teresa was able to give him directions. The whole trip went from a 20 minutes trip to over 2 1/2 hours, and its gonna cost a pretty penny for a new tired too as I doubt the old one is fixable. Such is our luck.

Also earlier last night, I added an 8th game to my wish list for GenCon Online. Another one on Sunday. So, I will have 8 four hour games in 4 days. The Con itself was free, but the games are going to cost me 16 dollars total. Not bad for 32 hours of entertainment. And still none of the games are on Roll20. Half are on Zoom, the other half on Discord. Yes, I am gonna show my 49.99 year old face on Zoom. I turn 50 four day after GenCon is over.

Earlier than that I was turned down for 2 Saturday night games because of my age. Getting old in the gaming world means none of the kids want to play with you. I can understand to a certain extent. Just sucks getting old.

Tomorrow I have nothing planned during the day. So, I will work on my plan to change Feise San Aeglias. I have finally come up with a major storyline for it. No more lists after list 2. Then all hell is going to break loose. I’m happy with the concept and think I can do something with what I have planned.

Tomorrow evening is the one of the last of Jason’s Eberron games. That is assuming he is up for it. Then we take a week off cuz Jason’s gonna be layed up after his surgery. Then we are on for a week. Then off a week for GenCon. Then back on schedule every Sunday until we are done with this campaign. Then we are gonna jump into Spelljammer. I am very much looking forward to this.

Monday at 11:00am I will be hitting the send my wish list to GenCon Online. And hoping I get into every game I want. I should, these are obscure games, so it’s all good. I took this opportunity to broaden my gaming scope, I hope its worth it.

Tuesday will be the start of the big change to the Feise San Aeglais that I really hope the players like. It will be interesting if nothing else. And hopefully be darkly fun.

Thursday I will go out to see Kristel, Dr. Wehbe’s nurse and get labs. After I do that I may drive way out of my way to get my new driver’s license. The place is so not conveniently located. So since Kristel visits take such a short time, I should be able to make it to the license place before they close. And I will finally get my new license. I am running out of time.

Thursday night will be another night of Chronicles of the Lost, with Filett (can’t believe that is the name he chose) hopefully being the last change to the party. He is being dumped into the middle of a boss fight . Then he is going to dumped into a dungeon to search for orb #5. I told him this to not make him think it’s all combat, just his timing on joining. I have a twist coming for them too, but not for a while.

I am 50 year old guy, who beat blood cancer but is getting his butt kicked by bone marrow cancer. At this point it appears I am dying. Married and in love with the most wonderful woman in the world (27 years). She has stood by me thru a lot of crap and I love her so.
