Reading again and enjoying it

Today was Thursday, July 16th, 2020. It was a bright sunshiny day. It was not very hot outside today, but it was kind of humid. Not too abnormal for mid-July, except it should have been about 10 degrees warmer.

I didn’t blog earlier today cuz first I tried to (and failed) to nap. And then I decided to read the last of Monster Hunter International.

My sleep lately has been kind of messed up. Another thing to add to my psych talk on the 21st. I am waking entirely too early and not getting good naps again. I am getting tired of this (physically, emotionally and mentally). There has to be something Dr. Eastin can give me… but at least I am not back to waking up at 2:20am no matter what time I go to bed.

Monster Hunter International was a fantastic read. And for me to read the whole book in 4 days is remarkable. The characters were likeable and believable (even if they were Monster Hunters). The story was great. The whole book was just plain enjoyable. I look forward to reading the next 7 or 8 books of the series. BTW, my wife bought me book 2 on the kindle, which was way cool of her, she didn’t tell me she was going to do that.

I then went and had my bi-weekly blood test. My numbers were right where they were supposed to be on an off week. WOOT. Still cruising along. Not bad for a guy who was supposed to die a few years ago.

Then tonight we played Session 4 of Chronicles of the Lost. We finished the battle from last time. They made short work of the Annis Hag, Troll and Ogre. Then they retrieved and returned orb #5. Then they bought some magic items. Then proceeded to set out for orb #6. I wrote out this big dungeon and then managed to steam roll right to the room where orb #6 was. They tore apart 2 hill giants and 4 owlbear like they weren’t even there. We quit after they got orb #6. I gave them the week to decide if they want to finish the dungeon or not. Much loot to be found, new monsters. Yeah, much fun to be had. Much fun was had tonight. Chronicles has just been fun all along.

Tomorrow night we play night 2 of Cori’s one-ish shot. As you may remember, it was really tough last week. At this point I wonder if Cori nerfed some of the encounters or left em where they were to test us out. Derek changed his Druid to a Paladin, so that should help.

Tomorrow during the day I plan on reading a bunch of the new Dresden files book. Yes, I am back to enjoying reading. Amazing what 1 book did for me. Now I am onto a 2nd book. I loved all the other Dresden Files books, so I am sure I will love this one too. Jim Butcher might very well be my favorite author. It’s either him or Glen Cook who wrote The Black Company series.

Saturdays will be more interesting too now that I am reading again. Something to keep my brain occupied on the weekends. I have decided I am not looking for a game on Saturday nights again. I was looking for one to get into, now I don’t need to.

Sunday we normally play in Jason’s game, but since his surgery was Today he isnt going to be up to DMing and that is ok. I wished him the best of luck thru his surgery today.

I probably won’t post a blog tomorrow until late if at all. I covered most of everything in this blog post, and the I want to get back to posting in the mornings. So don’t be surprised if I don’t post a post tomorrow. So, thank you for reading tonight. And I will have stuff to post on Saturday.
