August 10th, 2020 turned out to be quite the day. 1 1/2 hour super storm with 100+mph wind gusts and the 10 hours without power. I slept thru most of the storm itself, but was awake thru most of power outage and let me tell ya, it is BORING not having power for the long. It seems the only casualty in our house from the storm was our main (bedroom) cable box. Trees and branches are down everywhere, roofs blew off of buildings, but amazingly they are saying as of now no one died.

So this storm, its called a Derecho and it blew thru here like a mad thing. My neighbor’s big trees broke and one of them crushed his shed. Another neighbor had 2 big planters that just shattered. This covered the bottom half of the state and just ate up mile after mile and ravaging east of Chicagoland by now. Totally freaky storm.

Lucky for us it didn’t get hot today. And like I said, the only thing the we have found broke from the storm in our house was the cable box that had everything recorded on it. Yeah, that is our luck. Teresa hasn’t checked her MAC yet, it was trying to do an update when power was doing the flicker thing before it finally went out. I’m sure it is fine, but I still would have put that on my check it list.

Tiredness is the operative word of day. I have been so tired all day. But (not trying to jinx it) I haven’t felt sick. Really, I feel pretty good today. Me thinks, however, that I am going to take this week off from gaming because I am wiped out by 6pm every night and that is the time we start gaming. It’s been long enough, 1 more week isn’t going to be the end of the world. The players have found things to do to keep them occupied in the interim, so I guess it’s all good.

I will play in the end of Jason’s Eberron campaign next Sunday. It’s time to put that to the end. A nail in that proverbial coffin. It has been a good run, he has been running it for almost a year (they started last September). For a campaign to last that long, it has to be really good. So, hopefully I will be able to play by next Sunday.

Teresa is not having any luck tonight. First she wanted a Western Bacon Cheeseburger (I did too for that matter) but we couldn’t get a car out of the garage without power. Then she wanted to go to Fareway (grocery store) and they didn’t have power yet so they were closed. I think she just gave up and had a Klondike bar.
