the blow off blood test that became something

Thursday, August 20th, 2020 is the last day of the really nice days outside for most of the rest of August. Tomorrow is supposed to be HOT and Humid. Today I think it might get to 85 with a 42% humidity. And the HOT and Humid lasts several days before the temp drops back off again. I suppose we need rain (we always need rain according to the news), but according to KCCI weather, it doesn’t look like rain for quite a while.

I went for the blow off blood test, the one I didn’t think would show me needing anything yet… and it turns out I need blood. My Hemoglobin dropped 1.5 points this week bringing it down to 7.8 which means blood tomorrow. My platelets dropped from 70 to 47. The 1.5 drop being more surprising than the 23 point drop. Neither drop is good news. Waiting to hear back from Dr. Alkhateeb as to what he wants to do. While we wait, I will be getting blood at Mercy. Found out that Dr. Alkhateeb is out today, so might have to wait another day.

So, we are waiting for Dr. Alkhateeb and waiting for the results of the bone marrow biopsy. Waiting and waiting. In the mean time I get to be back to where I was 2 years ago (best case scenario) or I am really close to dead. The only thing I do know is that the chemo I have been on has stopped working as intended, why we don’t know. And the change from when it was working to when it wasn’t is about 5 weeks.

Teresa wrote Dr. Alkhateeb a long message today trying to catch him up with what is going on. It all happened so fast, and I didnt share information correctly while it was happening. Dr. Alkhateeb fell out of the loop. Teresa wouldn’t let me write the message. Anyhow, Teresa did a good job, I hope Dr. Alkhateeb reaches out to let us know he understands what happened. And hopefully he’ll have some idea of where to turn next.

So now, I sit here with a blood band on my arm, waiting till 10:15am tomorrow. Then I get to spend 2 hours getting blood, at least Teresa gets to be with me for those 2 hours. But now instead of 2 hours 3 days every 4 weeks, its gonna be 2 or more hours every week. SUCKAGE.

Jim got 5 days off in a row. Him and mom will be late tomorrow night. And stay I think till Wednesday. YAY, I get to my mother and brother before things get too bad.

Well, that’s it for this blog entry. My report on the visit with the anti-vampire ladies tomorrow.

I am 50 year old guy, who beat blood cancer but is getting his butt kicked by bone marrow cancer. At this point it appears I am dying. Married and in love with the most wonderful woman in the world (27 years). She has stood by me thru a lot of crap and I love her so.
